Transparent Labels

Transparent Labels

It shouldn't be complicated to spot harmful chemicals in the products we use daily, especially those we put on our skin. And for those of us who enjoy a delightful scent, it's even more important to know exactly what's in the goods we choose.

In the United States, the ingredients used to formulate fragrances are considered trade secrets and do not have to be disclosed. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not require that every ingredient be listed individually which means that labels can just say "fragrance" to cover a mix of chemicals without saying what they actually are.

As a result, we aren't told about the harmful chemicals or allergens we're being exposed to, even though some of these ingredients are known to cause health issues.

There's a better way.

The simple answer is for manufacturers and makers to list all ingredients, including those used to formulate fragrances. That's what Makery has always done - simple, clear, and transparent labels so you can make informed, safe choices for yourself and your family. We don't need an FDA regulation to do the better thing.
